Recently, my family and I made a trip to Florida and spent one day at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom park. For those of you who have been there, you have probably ridden the Haunted Mansion ride and seen the humorous gravestones that line the (sometimes rather long) queue area.
On this visit, I noticed a particular tombstone and took a picture of it. It reads:
RIP: Good friend Gordon, now you've crossed the River Jordan
Ever since Joshua led the nation of Israel across the Jordan River, people have equated the idea of crossing that famous river with fulfilling a promise, or going home, or receiving your ultimate, eternal reward. We even sing songs that mention this:
"On Jordan's stormy banks I stand and cast a wishful eye, to Canaan's fair and happy land where my possessions lie."
