Electronic Travel Approval for Israel

Israel’s Electronic Travel Approval

On January 1, 2025, Israel started a new program called the Electronic Travel Approval (ETA-IL). This program is similar to programs that other countries have in place. In general, it is a way for the Israel Population & Immigration Authority to pre-screen visitors coming into the country.

Completion and approval of this form is REQUIRED and should be completed as soon as the exact travel details are known. Typically, you will be required to show evidence of this approval before you are issued a boarding pass to fly to Israel. This approval is valid for two years.

The online form takes about 15 minutes to complete. Please note that you have to complete the entire form in one sitting. There is no capability to save your information and return later. To complete the form, you will need a) a valid email address, b) travel information, c) personal information, and d) a valid passport.

There is also a cost involved with this approval process. The cost is 25NIS and is payable via credit card.

Once you submit your application, you will receive an email stating that your application has been received. Typically, you will be approved in a few minutes. At that point, you will receive another email informing you of your approval. (If you do not receive an email within an hour, please check your “Spam” folder to make sure that the email did not end up in this folder.) This approval email is what you will need to show to the airline ticket agent to receive your boarding pass. I recommend that you have the approval email on your phone, as well as a printed version with you.

NOTE: I will do my best to keep the information on this page up to date. However, if you go through the process and find it slightly different than what I have described above, do not be alarmed. Just finish going through the process, and let me know what has changed so that I can keep the information current.
