Hotel Information

Description: I have stayed at the Seasons Hotel many times. It is a very nice hotel with good food and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea. In all honesty, you might not even remember this hotel by the end of the tour. We only stay here one night and you will be so tired by the time that you get there all you want to do is go to take a shower and go to bed!

It is located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, but slightly elevated. The shoreline can be accessed via a number of steps from a small park located about 100 meters to the north of the hotel. It is not uncommon for me to get out of bed and see members of our tour group walking along the shore after getting up too early from the jet-lag.

Pictures (L to R): the Mediterranean coast looking south in the direction of Joppa, the Mediterranean coast looking north in the direction of Caesarea, and the interpretive sign from the Shabbat elevator inside the hotel.

THE RON BEACH HOTEL (Three nights)

Description: This is, by far, my favorite hotel in Israel. This family run hotel is managed by two of the grandsons of the original owner. While many hotels in Tiberias are a couple of blocks from the shore of the Sea of Galilee, this hotel sits directly on the shore. We will spend three nights here and I assure you that you will not want to leave. While we are there, the sun will not set until after 7:30. This will give you plenty of time to eat dinner and then grab a chair and relax as darkness falls across the lake. No need to request a special room since every room in the hotel faces the Sea of Galilee.

We will eat breakfast and dinner every day while we stay there. The food at the Ron Beach is some of the best you will eat while we are in Israel.

I could go on and on about this hotel, but I won't. Seriously, I love staying at this hotel. When I travel with the Appian Media team to Israel, we always stay here. In fact, a number of the introduction scenes and interviews were filmed at the Ron Beach.

Pictures (L to R): sunrise over the Sea of Galilee, dining room (with views out the windows of the Sea of Galilee), and the fruit table at dinner.

EIN BOKEK (dead sea)

Description: This is a new stop for my tours. I have been looking for a way for my travelers to better experience the Dead Sea. We have scheduled to stay one evening on the shore of the Dead Sea. This should give you plenty of time to go down to the water and enjoy your visit. I am hopeful that this change will be beneficial for all. This hotel gets pretty good reviews and so I am looking forward to our visit.

Pictures: Because I have never stayed here, I do not have any pictures. But, feel free to look around on their website.

Video: (Admittedly, this video is a bit dated. But, you can see what the place looks like.)

Description: I have stayed at the Grand Court a number of times. It is a larger hotel, but it is used to handling tour groups like ours. The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk north of the Damascus Gate to the Old City. From this location, we will be able to quickly get to the places where we want to visit. They have a very large dining hall with very good food. Their dessert table is so beautiful that you might consider taking a picture of it instead of eating from it. You'll quickly change your mind and get an assortment of sweets.

Pictures (L to R): The front driveway of the Grand Court, the large lobby, and the dining hall from a higher floor.

2018 Tour Book - This 27-page document consists of a number of sections and contains information about all aspects of the tour. I highly encourage you to read this document now and then reread portions of it in the final weeks leading up to the tour. In the final month before a tour, I typically receive a number of questions from travelers. Most of those questions are already answered in this tour book. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have. But, you might be able to save yourself some time by consulting this tour book first.

2018 Traveler List - Here is a list of all of this year's travelers along with hometowns. If you don't know many of of the people on this list, that is just fine! We will all be best friends by the end of the tour.

Airport Check-In Instructions - Here is some advice on how to check in at your local airport. I have gone through this process a number of times and it works very well.

Ben Gurion Arrival Procedures - Landing, going through Passport Control, Baggage Claim and Customs can be an intimidating process. Here are the steps that each of us will follow after we land.

Frequently Asked Questions - What if my flight is delayed? What if my luggage does not make it to Tel Aviv? The answers to these questions as well as other can be found here.

Interesting Links

Western Wall Live Webcam - During the first century BC, King Herod greatly enlarged the Temple Mount and rebuilt the temple. The Western Wall is the holiest site in Judaism as it is the closest that the Jewish people can get to the original site of the temple. This camera will be pointed at the Western Wall 24 hours a day, except on the Shabbat.

Zefat Live Webcam - The city of Zefat (Sefad) is about 5 miles north of the Sea of Galilee. Most of the modern population of Zefat is Jewish. This camera is pointed southwest toward the hills of Lower Galilee. When it is clear, you can see the northwestern corner of the Sea of Galilee on the left hand side of the screen. The lights going up the hill from the sea is the modern city of Tiberias.

Mount Bental Live Webcam - Mount Bental is located in the Golan Heights about 3 miles west of the border with Syria. This camera is facing northwest. When it is clear, you can see Mount Hermon on the right hand side of the screen. Mount Hermon rises over 9,000 feet in elevation and sits on the border of Israel, Syria, and Lebanon. The Biblical cities of Dan and Caesarea Philippi sit toward the base of Mount Hermon.
